Our Annual General Meeting and Handover this year was held at Chavenage House near Tetbury on a glorious summer's day. Afternoon tea was served in the historic Ballroom, with the wonderful views through the lovely bow window seen many times in historic drama's, such as BBC 1's Poldark. Caroline Lowsley Williams welcomed  us all, and gave us a brief update on how Chavenage is still benefiting from the filming of Poldark.  We were all delighted to hear that there is a fifth, but final, series  planned.  Many of us are great Poldark fans and followers of  Aidan Turner as Ross Poldark and it was great to imagine it all being played out in this historic setting.

It was then time for AAfternoon Tea, thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, before the AGM business began in earnest.  President Sarah Crumpton presided over the final meeting of her Presidential year. It has been a good year for Sarah and  the Club. She  gave us a report of her year, and some of the activities that we had all achieved together and how she had enjoyed every moment and how the year had flown by so quickly.

After all the Officers reports. Sarah presented Honoured Active Membership to Pam England. Pam has done outstanding service for Inner Wheel which the Club members recognised and wished to honour.  Pam has been a member of the Club for 54 years.

President Sarah concluded the meeting by handing over the Chain of Office and the Presidency to Gill Davis. who  presented Sarah with a card and a gardening voucher which she hoped would enable her to buy something for her garden to remind her of  her memorable year.

Gill said that she was truly honoured to be President, and congratulated Sarah on behalf of the membership that with her leadership the Club was able to give £3,000 to various charities.

Gill's theme for the year is “Make the Future Positive and Keep Our Candle Burning” which she hopes we will. Finally, the members joined Gill in saying together the “Inner Wheel Collect.”

It was a lovely occasion in a lovely setting and to finish the year with Sarah and start the New year with Gill, is a great start to 2018/2019 .
