What a super outing this was.

Everyone was at their coach 'pick-up' points on time and at 9.20 we set off from the Prince of Wales to travel up the M5 to Croome Court, Park and the Secret Walled Garden, near Pershore.

The Park has been owned by the National Trust since 1996 and has been restored to its former glory.  The house, Croome Court is owned by the Croome Heritage Trust and leased to the National Trust so that it can be opened to the public.

The walled kitchen garden was purchased by Karen & Chris Cronin who  came to the rescue in 2000, when, living locally, and seeing that the property was on the market decided to go along for 'a nose around'.

This result.  This amazing couple purchasing the walled garden with the aim of building a fantastic home with swimming pool, tennis courts etc, but they were so drawn into the history and structure of this wonderful 'secret' garden that the plans for a new house were quickly discarded and the story of the restoration began.

After welcome refreshments on arrival at Croome, we were lucky enough to be shown around the garden by Chris Cronin, whose enthusiasm for everything connected to the garden was very infectious.  For more information visit the direct website for the garden

Then we drifted off, some directly to Croome Court for a light lunch at Kitty Fisher's, followed by a look around the House, whilst others wandered back to the café the where hot lunches were being served.

The café and reception area are in the restored wartime buildings of the secret base of RAF Defford and there was an opportunity to visit the small Defford museum before taking a well earned rest, more refreshments and then the journey home.

Congratulations and thanks to Social Committee Chairman, Di Moore, for all her hard work toward such a super day with super company, super weather, super refreshments.  All in all, SUPER !!
