Can I bring friends and family along?
Of course! To avoid disappointment, anyone wanting to take part should register before 16th November. If you register on the day, the price increases (see above, Pricing Structure) and we cannot guarantee to time your run or have a suitable size santa costume. There will be entertainment and refreshments throughout the town centre, so be a fun day for all the family.
What should I wear?
A Santa Suit of course (included in your entry fee) and they can be picked up from St Mary's Hospice shops, just take along a copy of your confirmatory email of registration. But depending on the weather, we recommend warm layers and waterproofs (ponchos will be available for a small donation), as well as trainers of comfortable shoes.
All Santas should report to The Forum on completion of the "Dash" where they can exchange their timing chips for a Finishers medal. Afterwards, why not stay and enjoy the Christmas Lights Switch On !
Fastest Male, Fastest Female, Fastest Boy (under 14) and Fastest Girl (under 14) will be announced on social media and this website and prizes will be awarded !
How am I helping St Mary’s Hospice?
“As a family we were overwhelmed, we were lost. The St Mary’s Hospice at Home team came into our lives and gave us the help we needed to bring Lee home. Without their support, Lee would have spent his last hours in a place where he was unhappy and afraid, instead of at home surrounded by the love of his family” – Gill, mum to Lee, who passed away aged 27 from Leukemia.
St Mary’s was born from the belief that no one should face a life limiting illness on their own. Whether it is on our 9 bed inpatient unit, at home, on a Living Well programme or with Family and Bereavement Support, we will care and understand, give support and courage at the hardest of times. It costs £3.2 million every year to provide our services free of charge to the South Cumbria Community – so every penny you raise at this year’s Santa Dash will ensure we are able to continue to be here for as many people as possible when they need us for as long as they need us.
