a large number of Rotarians and guests attended the Handover Dinner on Friday 29th June at The Lodge, Kato Paphos, to welcome incoming President George Kafizas whose year begins on July 1st. George is a dynamic, motivational character and his Presidential Year should be eventful. An additional highlight of the evening was the presentation of a Paul Harris Fellowship Award to the Club's ever cheerful, hardworking Julia Rautenschlein.

A well deserved honour for Julia.
SUMMER CHARITY BALL
Over 120 Rotarians and their guests enjoyed an excellent evening at the Kamares Club, Tala, on Saturday june 9th. Good food and wine, plus top class entertainment from renowened local singer Melissa Williams and bouzouki music from Costas ensured a great event.
More importantly, the event raised no less tha 4000 euros towards the purchase of a new minibus for the Paphos Autistic Association. All in all, this event was what Rotary is all about - having fun and raising money for good causes,
A big, big cheque !!

RUN AROUND PAPHOS, SUNDAY APRIL 22ND
Intrepid competitors taking part in the 6km morning 'Run around Paphos' from Paphos Old Town supported by the local Municipality. Many runners were raising money for charitable causes. Club members acted as Track Marshals. Thankfully everything went well, although some runners were caught out a bit by the steep Old Town gradients.
PEACE TREES ON THE GREEN LINE
On "Green Monday", February 19th, several Club members and their wives attended a historic walkabout in Nicosia with the President of Rotary International, Ian Riseley, and his wife Juliet, culminating in the planting of three Peace Trees on the Green Line separating the two Cyprus communities - one each by Ian and Juliet, and the third by District Governor Christina Covotsou-Patroclou. One of Rotary's prime objects is the promotion of internatonal peace and goodwill, and it was heartening to see Rotarians from both sides of the border joining together in Rotary fellowship. The event was followed by a substantial lunch and traditional entertainment.

TREE PLANTING IN PAPHOS
Inspired by the RI President's excellent example (see above), early in March Paphos Aphrodite Rotarians and willing helpers planted two mulberry trees and some smaller plants at the Margarita Liasidou centre for adults with special needs.
